Donors can pay with PayPal on your donation forms. PayPal payments go straight into your own PayPal account. To set this up, save your PayPal API details in your account.
What do I need before I start?
A PayPal Business account.
A connected Stripe account. PayPal will not work without one: every client must have a Stripe account to use PayPal.
Your PayPal API username, password and signature. See "Where do I find my PayPal API credentials?" below.
How do I connect my PayPal account?
In the menu, go to Payments and Receipts › Connect Paypal account. You can also click Connect your Paypal account in the to-do list on your dashboard.
In the Payments by PayPal section, enter your API Username, API Password and API Signature.
Click the green Save your Paypal account details button.
A "Payment Details Save Successfully" message appears. You're done.
There is no extra step inside PayPal. You are not sent to PayPal to approve anything. Some older text on the page still mentions a separate "connect" step; saving your details is all you need to do.
This menu item appears for charities outside Israel.
Can donors set up recurring donations with PayPal?
The PayPal page no longer offers recurring payments through PayPal billing agreements.
Why do I get an error when I click Save?
The page checks the format of each value before saving:
API Username must contain at least two dots, for example
xxxx_api1.yourdomain.com.API Password must be capital letters and numbers only, at least 8 characters.
API Signature must be at least 40 characters long.
If a value fails, you'll see a message such as "Wrong paypal username". Copy each value again straight from PayPal, with no spaces before or after it.
Where do I find my PayPal API credentials?
These steps happen in PayPal, and PayPal may change its screens.
Log in to your PayPal Business account and open API access: https://www.paypal.com/businessmanage/credentials/apiaccess
Under "NVP/SOAP API integration", click Manage API credentials.
If you already created an API signature, View API Signature appears. If not, agree to create one.
Click Show next to each value. Copy the API username, password and signature into your account, as described above.
