Post an update to your campaign's donors

Keep your donors in the loop. On the Post an update page you write a short update about one of your campaigns. It appears on the campaign page, and we email it to the campaign's donors.

Charities and fundraiser accounts both have this page. Users need the Campaigns permission to open it.

Where do I post an update?

  • Charity accounts: go to Fundraise › Campaigns › Post an update.

  • Fundraiser accounts: click Post an update in the menu.

How do I write and publish an update?

  1. In Select Campaign, choose the campaign. Campaigns are listed by their web address name.

  2. If the campaign has both an English and a Hebrew page, Select Langunage For The Post appears. Both English and Hebrew are ticked. Untick a language if the update should appear in one language only.

  3. Write the update in the text editor. You can format the text, add links and insert images from the editor toolbar.

  4. Click Publish.

  5. A window says: "Upon clicking Approve, the update will go live on the platform." Click Approve.

The update is now on the campaign page, and the emails to donors start going out.

You'll see a message if the text is empty, if no campaign is selected, or if both languages are unticked.

For tips on what to write, see How to Write a Fundraiser Update.

Who receives the update by email?

When you publish a new update, we email every donor who gave to that campaign, unless they opted out of this campaign's updates.

  • Subject: "Update from the campaign you donated to".

  • Sender name: your charity's name or, for a fundraiser's campaign, the fundraiser's name.

  • Content: a short note with a link to the campaign, a click here link to read the update, and a link to stop receiving updates. The email does not include the update text itself.

  • Language: each donor gets the email in the language they used when they donated (English or Hebrew).

  • The email goes to all of the campaign's donors, whatever language you chose for the post.

Emails are sent one after the other, with a short pause between them. With many donors, it can take a while until everyone has the email.

Where can I see my updates?

Your updates are listed under the form. Each one shows the date, the campaign and the text. If the campaign has two languages, you'll also see which language the post appears in.

How do I edit or delete an update?

  • To edit: click Edit next to the update. The text loads into the editor. Make your changes, click Update, then click Approve. You can't move an update to another campaign. Editing does not email donors again.

  • To delete: click Delete. In Delete Post?, click Confirm. The update is removed from the list.

How do donors stop getting updates?

Every update email has a link at the bottom: "To stop receiving updates about this campaign, click here".

When a donor clicks it, they see "You have successfully opted out from the campaign updates". From then on, they get no update emails from that campaign. They still get updates from other campaigns they gave to.

You can't see or undo opt-outs in your account.

Common questions

  • Why didn't a donor get my update? They may have opted out of this campaign's updates. Only new updates are emailed, not edits.

  • Can I send an update to donors of all my campaigns at once? No. Each update belongs to one campaign. Charity accounts can email a wider group with the newsletter tool. See Create a new newsletter.
