International fundraising: who is eligible and how to apply

Our platform helps you fundraise internationally. Donors can give in 135 currencies, and donation forms and campaigns are available in 9 languages.

Are donations from abroad tax-deductible?

By default, every donation goes directly to your organization. You issue the receipt, so a donation is only tax-deductible in the country where your organization is registered.

You can change this for a particular currency. If you have a fundraising partner in another country, we can set up payments in that country's currency to be processed by your partner. For example, a Canadian charity can work with a U.S. sister charity, and an Israeli charity can work with its "Friends of" organization.

> Example: Toronto's Hospital for Sick Kids wants donations in U.S. dollars to be U.S. tax-deductible. It connects the USD currency to "Friends of The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Inc.", a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization it works with.

To connect a currency to your own partner organization, contact our support team.

What if I don't have a partner in that country?

We work with a network of partner foundations around the world that can support your organization. Each foundation has its own eligibility criteria and must follow local laws and regulations.

Read the conditions for each country:

How do I apply to a partner foundation?

You apply online, from the Funding Applications page.

  1. In the menu, go to Manage › Funding Applications.

  2. Under Start a new application, find the foundation you want and click Apply.

  3. Fill in each section of the form. Click Save draft at any time and come back to it later.

  4. When every section is complete, click Submit application.

The list shows only the forms open to your organization. It can include:

  • United States foundation application (America Gives)

  • Canada foundation application (Bestow Canada)

  • United Kingdom foundation application (UK Gives)

  • France foundation application (Fonds de Dotation IG)

  • Australia foundation application (Aussie Gives)

  • Germany foundation application (Haus des Stiftens für Unternehmen & Non Profits)

  • Israel Foundation - raising funds in Israel (organizations outside Israel only)

Switzerland, the Netherlands and Hong Kong don't have an online form. Read the instructions on the country's page under International.

Once you submit, you can't edit the application while it is being reviewed.

How do I track my application?

Your applications appear under My applications on the Funding Applications page. Each one shows a status:

  • Draft: you haven't submitted it yet. Click Continue editing to finish it.

  • Submitted: our team is reviewing it.

  • Returned for editing: we need changes. Open it, read the comments on the sections marked This section needs editing, update them and submit again.

  • Approved: the foundation has accepted your application.

  • Rejected: the application was not accepted.

Click View to see an application you have already submitted.

Do I need to process my home currency with you?

Yes. To work with our international partner foundations, you must also process donations in your home currency with us. For example, an American charity that wants to fundraise in Canada must use us as its main payment method for its U.S. fundraising.

I can't see International or Funding Applications in my menu
